We Talk With Amy Jarman - Wolf's Marketing Assistant

We recently caught up with Amy Jarman, who works in Wolf’s Marketing team, and asked her a few questions about her role in the company and her life outside work

Amy Jarman, Wolf's Marketing Assistant

  • Hi Amy, thanks for taking the time to chat with us today. Can you start by telling us a bit about your background and how you came to work at Wolf Safety?

Hi! Sure, happy to chat. Before I joined Wolf Safety, I worked in the healthcare sector for about two years. I spent the first year working with children who had mental or developmental disabilities, which was both rewarding and challenging. Then, I moved to working with adults, which also required a lot of mental and physical strength but was really rewarding too.

Eventually, I had to leave because I moved to Sheffield, which was about an hour and a half away from where I was living at the time. Luckily, I found an exciting opportunity for an apprenticeship as a Digital Marketing Assistant. I was eager to develop new skills and start a new career path, so I jumped at the chance and that’s how I ended up at Wolf!

  • That was quite a career change, tell us a bit more about it

Well, after two years in healthcare, I was looking for a fresh start and a chance to learn new skills in a different field, I was ready for a change. The apprenticeship at Wolf Safety was perfect because it offered hands-on experience and educational growth. It was exactly what I needed to build a solid foundation in marketing while contributing to a great company.

  • Can you please tell us a little bit about your apprenticeship?

Sure! When I joined Wolf, I started a Level 3 Digital Marketing apprenticeship with Baltic Apprenticeships and finished with a distinction. Now, I’m working on my Level 4 Digital Marketing Executive course, which I should complete by April next year

  • How does this help you in your work at Wolf?

Both apprenticeship courses have provided me with knowledge and skills in digital marketing, allowing me to contribute effectively to Wolf's marketing efforts while continuing to advance my professional qualifications.

  • What are your main responsibilities at Wolf?

The main ones include making sure that our product information sheets and the website are kept up to date. I’m heavily involved in our digital campaigns and social media, as well as photography, videoing and editing. I also help plan our exhibitions around the world and look after our Amazon account, and lots more – so I’m very busy!

  • What do you enjoy most about your job?

The people I work with make my job really enjoyable, but I also love the creative aspect. I get a lot of satisfaction from brainstorming ideas, designing visually appealing content, and developing marketing strategies. Whether it’s creating visuals with Photoshop or crafting messages for our campaigns, I enjoy the creative process and bringing ideas to life.

  • What is the most difficult part of your role?

Balancing the technical and creative aspects can be challenging. I need to ensure all our marketing materials and product information are up to date across multiple platforms, which requires attention to detail and organisational skills. Plus, I create images with Photoshop and videos with Premiere Pro, which demands both creativity and technical skill. It’s a lot to juggle, but it’s also the most rewarding part of the job because I get to contribute to our visual and multimedia marketing efforts.

  • Can you tell us about a challenging project you worked on and how you overcame any obstacles?

One of the most challenging projects was creating a multilingual website that supports five different languages. It was demanding because I had to ensure the website's layout remained consistent across all versions, which involved a lot of careful coding and a lot of attention to detail. I overcame the challenges by planning and organising thoroughly, creating detailed documentation, and conducting extensive testing and debugging. Completing this project successfully was incredibly rewarding, as well as improving user experience and helping enhance our global reach

  • What does a typical day look like for you?

As you might expect, there’s no real typical day!  Being involved in so many things and so many different projects, there’s always something new happening and some new opportunity to learn.  All the same, most days will start with checking my emails and include website checks and any urgent updates to sales sheets, as well as checking stock at Amazon and a million other things!  And then, who knows?

  • What has been your most significant achievement at Wolf so far?

Completing my Level 3 Digital Marketing apprenticeship with a distinction was a big achievement. I was delighted as I’d put in a lot of hard work and it’s equipped me with valuable skills and knowledge that I can directly apply to my role

  • What’s it like working at Wolf?

The company culture at Wolf Safety is incredibly welcoming and supportive. It’s the most inviting place I’ve worked at, with genuinely friendly staff who make you feel valued and included from day one. There’s a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, which not only enhances productivity but also creates a positive work environment where everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas and grow professionally.

  • How do you stay up to date with the latest marketing trends and technologies?

Staying current is crucial, so I focus on continuous learning. My Marketing course provides regular training, and I attend webinars about social media strategies and new technologies. Experimenting with new tools and techniques and analysing their performance also helps me keep up with the latest trends

  • What are your professional goals for the next few years?

My main goal for the next year is to complete my Level 4 Marketing Executive course. This will enhance my skills and knowledge in digital marketing and strategic planning, preparing me for more advanced responsibilities. Beyond that, I aim to continue learning and growing within the company, taking on new challenges and contributing to Wolf's ongoing success. I’m eager to explore emerging marketing technologies, expand my leadership skills, and take on more strategic initiatives

  • What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career in marketing?

I’d advise getting a solid understanding of marketing fundamentals, and an apprenticeship is a great way to gain practical experience. The marketing industry is always evolving, so it’s important to stay up to date with the latest trends, tools, and technologies. Marketing requires both creative and analytical skills, so learn about content creation, social media management, SEO, data analysis, and email marketing. Tools like Photoshop, Google Analytics, and various social media platforms are essential. Finally, stay persistent and patient—building a career takes time and effort. Keep developing your skills, and with dedication, you’ll find your place in the marketing world

  • Are there any tips or best practices you’ve found particularly useful in your role?

Staying organised is crucial—keeping track of tasks and meeting deadlines is essential. Understanding data and analytics is also important. Tools like Google Analytics and social media insights help me measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and make data-driven decisions. But the main tip is to keep learning. The marketing field is always changing, so I stay current by taking online courses, attending webinars, and reading industry blogs. Continuous learning helps me stay ahead of trends and bring new skills to the table

  • What do you like doing outside work?

I love staying fit, whether it’s going to the gym, running, or even the occasional boxing session. I’m also passionate about food—I love cooking and trying new recipes and meal plans!

  • Finally, is there a fun fact or something interesting about yourself that your colleagues might not know?

Sure! I’m bilingual—German is my first language, which has been a great asset both personally and professionally. I also used to compete in 100m sprints and gymnastics. These sports challenged me physically and mentally and gave me a strong sense of discipline and determination.

Thank you, Amy, it's been a pleasure talking with you!
