Wolf Leadlamp Increases Efficiency at Chemical Manufacturing Plant

The BASF Petronas Chemicals in Malaysia is a subsidiary of Petronas, the oil and gas multi-national based in Malaysia.  They produce and market chemical products which are essential for a wide range of industries, including textiles, paint and automotive. They have been working with our Distributor ETD Makmur (M) SDN BHD in Malaysia for more than 10 years.

Before switching to the Wolf SP-600 ATEX LED Inspection Leadlamp, low-cost explosion proof lamps were being used for their inspection and maintenance tasks inside the Hazardous Areas in their production facility.  However, despite the initial relatively low purchase price, these were proving costly due to the downtime caused by the high frequency of having to leave the work area to change the bulb.  Furthermore, the light output was poor and additional lighting had, at times, to be used at the same time.  This prompted them to search for a solution that would increase production efficiency whilst simultaneously providing increased light output. 

ETD duly presented the SP-600, clearly demonstrating the benefits of the much better light output (470 lumens) provided by the ultra-wide angle, “fitted for life” LED, as well as the efficiency savings due to the reduced downtime and reduced maintenance costs.  Following a trial period, during which operators expressed their pleasure at the reduced weight, ergonomically friendly handle and the 360° swivel hook allowing hands-free use, ETD were able to show the overall efficiency cost savings due to the reduced downtime.  This resulted in the customer purchasing 11 units with a follow up order for 20 units 12 months later.
